What is Raw Shea Butter?

Two distinct forms of shea butter are available, raw (unrefined) and refined (chemically refined). Most commercial shea butter is chemically refined to give it a smooth texture. Raw, unrefined shea butter is processed in the traditional manner without the use of unnatural chemicals. Raw shea butter has an uneven texture, however, it is rich in nutrients and free of potentially harmful chemicals.
