Q. My hair has no chemicals..it is completely natural...can I use Diva Smooth?

A. YES! Diva Smooth is a Hair smoothing agent..it is not a relaxer..it will NOT chemically alter your hair. However, after applying DIVA Smooth and using a flat iron...your hair will be lustrously smooth and straight.

Q. Why can't I just use a flat-iron to get my hair straight?

A.  You can. But with Diva Smooth it is not only straight it is AMAZINGLY smooth and hair damage is significantly reduced! After repeated use...your hair will GLOW!

Q. My Hair is relaxed and I have no intention of stopping the use of a relaxer in my hair...is Diva Smooth for me?

A. YES! Diva Smooth does not chemically alter your hair and can be used on relaxed hair if you want that add that layer of smooth and shine that is unique to Diva Smooth.

Q. My hair is relaxed and my roots are growing out...can I use Diva Smooth as I transition to natural hair?

A. YES! There will be no difference between your roots and your relaxed hair as you use Diva Smooth to transition out of the use of harsh chemicals!

Q. My hair is naturally straight, but there is some frizz factor..Can I use Diva Smooth to control my frizz?

A. YES! Diva Smooth..smooths and seals the hair cuticle allowing for glossy smooth hair. The Virgin Coconut Hair Serum included in the Kit, is really the key for controlling frizz while wearing your hair straight.  The Serum is applied right before you flat-iron.  If you are wearing your hair naturally curly, the My Natural Curl Collection (launching Aug 2010) will be the extension products you use along with Diva Smooth to enhance curls.

Q. My hair is all natural 4a/b hair and I am skeptical about putting any straightener besides heat in my hair. What EXACTLY is the straightening ingredient in your product?

A. The ingredients in the Diva Smooth Kit perform the opposite than those found in a chemical relaxer.  The ingredients in Diva Smooth strengthen your hair via the use of the deep penetrating capabilities of virgin coconut oil, honey and molasses. The high deposits of moisture and natural proteins provide a protective coating that prevents heat damage. (Link for more details on ingredients below).

There is no stripping of the hair cuticle because there are no chemical ingredients.

Q. Hi. I want to apply Diva Smooth to my natural hair and then wear it in a curly wash and go style, Will this product be appropriate for this style choice? What steps would I take to style the hair for the curly look after applying the Diva Smooth?

A.Yes. You can wear your hair naturally curly with the Diva Smooth. The Steps are below:

How to Apply Diva Smooth

1. Part hair into thin sections

2. Using the applicator brush, apply Diva Smooth starting from roots to the ends, until whole head of hair is done

3. Place plastic cap on hair

4. For very coarse hair leave on for 45 minutes. For Medium to Fine Hair leave on for 35 minutes

5. Remove cap, Rinse, Shampoo and Condition.

6. Apply one full drop of Janelle Beauty Virgin Coconut Hair Serum to Hair. (Add more if needed)

7. Apply My Natural Curl Collection Products (Launching Aug 2010).

8. Style and go.

 

Q. What flat-iron do you recommend?

A. We recommend the CHI flat iron or Paul Mitchell.

Q. Hi. I am a Caucasian woman, can I use the Diva Smooth to get my hair smooth?

A.The Diva Smooth product works on all hair types. Your hair will need to be flat-ironed to be very straight, since the product does not chemically alter your hair. The product deposits a high level of moisture and nutrients and starts the process of hair repair.

Q. Have the Diva Smooth/Virgin Coconut Hair serum products been used on gray hair?

A.Yes the products work on gray hair. We have several customers who are completely gray.

Q. How does the product work in high humid areas like Texas and Florida and Atlanta?

A.The issue of humidity can be addressed with the use of the Virgin Coconut Oil Hair Serum before applying heat to the hair. This will usually keep the hair from frizzing and allow you to maintain smooth roots.

The Diva Smooth will help get your hair to optimum health, which in turn, help keep the scalp and hair moisturized. The double benefit of these 2 products goes a long way in sustaining manageability and supporting sleeker, smoother hair styles.

Q. How long do you have to leave the product in your hair to achieve the maximum straightness when initially applying it?

A. If you have coarse hair you leave it in for 45 minutes minimum. If you feel your hair needs more because of your specific texture, that's fine. The product will not harm you if you leave it on longer - it is completely natural. Some customers report they leave it in overnight.

Q. How frequently should it be applied to hair?

A.It is recommended 4 weeks. But that is really determined by the state of your hair - damage, breakage etc...you can apply more frequently to aid in achieving healthy hair. Some customers apply it once a week.

Q. How long does it take (how many applications) before I will really see a significant difference in my hair?

A. Some customers have immediate results and are incredibly excited and some customers expected more from their first application. In the latter scenario, the second application gave them the results they expected.
However, we must stress that Diva Smooth is not for everyone. Some people prefer the ultra straight look of a relaxer right after they wash out the relaxer - and so they opt to use Diva Smooth, more as a deep conditioner and still keep applying chemical relaxers.

Q. Will this product make my hair look like an afro-centric "natural" state but allow for increased manageability; OR will it make the natural hair look pressed or chemically treated?

A. We can honestly say both. The first option (manageability) is a given. The second look can be achieved by using a flat iron after applying Diva Smooth.

Q. Hi. I have a texturizer in my hair…but it’s so harsh to my hair. I don’t want my hair straight all the time. Will the Diva Smooth product itself make my hair straight?

A.The Diva Smooth product itself does not make your hair straight upon initial application. The Flat-Iron makes your hair straight. The Diva Smooth does NOT chemically alter your hair. So when you rinse your hair after applying the Diva Smooth your hair will look natural. You can then choose to style your hair according to it’s natural pattern OR you can opt to have straight hair by applying a flat-iron.

Q. What if my hair gets wet? Will it revert back? I exercise a lot.

A. The product is not a chemical relaxer so your hair is not chemically altered. Therefore, your natural hair pattern is the same as before just healthier and more manageable. This creates a smooth base for heat application, rendering your hair silky smooth.

When your hair gets wet, you will need to reapply heat. However, that silky smooth look will be back. It will revert back to silky smooth every time you apply heat up to 4 weeks.
