MY DECREE FOR PEACE

You will keep me in perfect peace because I trust in you and my thoughts are fixed on You.

Excerpt from the book 30 Days to Peace, Provision and Protection by Anika Janelle Pettiford.

This scripture is the quintessential scripture on peace. It is the most potent guarantee of peace given by God Himself. He says, “I will keep you in perfect peace.” First, He says that He will. It is a perfect imperative of the will of a sovereign God. It is not our circumstances or our economic status, but the will of our God to do something that no one can challenge. This also speaks to the covenant relationship we have with God. It’s a continuous circle of focusing and receiving. The fact that God says that “He will” should be enough to suffice the quality and quantity of the thing for which He professes to provide. However, He further assures us that the type of peace He plans to impart is of the quality of perfection. Perfection that is defined by the Creator of the universe.

Another translation of Isaiah 26:3 says “Thou wilt keep the man of steadfast purpose in perfect peace, because he trusts in Thee.”  Other translations render steadfast purpose as steadfast mind.  This perfect peace promised by God is predicated on us keeping our mind steadfast and purposed to focus on Him.  We have this steady gaze because we trust in Him.  He is our hope, our redeemer, our provider, our strong tower. We steadily gaze at him and in doing so we are imparted the perfect peace of Heaven.  Let Psalm 24:7 be our heart’s cry to be bestowed with Isaiah 26:3. “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”
